2nd VIRTUAL CLASSROOM – Podcast Creation for Project Dissemination

The second virtual classroom session took place again via ZOOM on the 11th of April 2025. This time the Slovak partner Europsky Dialog took over the implementation of the session.

There were 12 participants attending this sessio. Below is a summary of the virtual classroom.

Tomáš led a session on podcast creation for project dissemination, emphasizing the importance of defining a clear goal, target audience, and suitable format, and introduced basic tools and recording tips for podcasting. The team also conducted a workshop on creating mini podcasts, with participants tasked with recording a 2-minute podcast on a topic they were passionate about, and discussed the use of AI tools for creating podcasts.

Tomáš led a discussion on the importance of podcasting in education and project dissemination. He highlighted its growing popularity, flexibility, accessibility, and engagement. He emphasized the need to define a clear goal, target audience, and suitable format for creating podcasts. He also discussed various podcast formats, including solo narration, co-hosted or guest interviews, and storytelling/documentary styles. The conversation ended with a reminder to consider the guest’s interests and prepare alternative questions if needed.

Tomáš discusses basic tools and recording tips for podcasting. He explains that smartphones, laptops with external mics, and various software options like Voice Memos, Zoom, and Audacity can be used for recording and editing. Tomáš emphasizes the importance of choosing a quiet, echo-free environment and speaking naturally close to the microphone. He also recommends testing audio levels before recording and using headphones to monitor sound quality. Tomáš concludes by comparing professional podcast studio setups with his own room, highlighting the importance of proper equipment and room acoustics for good audio quality.

Tomáš led a workshop on creating mini podcasts, emphasizing the importance of constant improvement and the potential of podcasts in project outcomes. He demonstrated the use of NotebookLM, a platform for processing and generating audio content. Participants were tasked with recording a 2-minute podcast on a topic they were passionate about, with the option to share their work via email or a shared drive. Katja suggested giving participants more time to complete the task. Some participants encountered technical difficulties with the platform, but Tomáš advised using phone recordings or video screen recording as alternatives.

In the meeting, the team discussed the use of AI tools for creating podcasts. Katja shared her experience with the tool, noting that it was useful for generating dialogue on a chosen topic. The team also discussed the potential of the tool for summarizing topics and creating additional questions for guests. The conversation ended with the team expressing their interest in using the tool in their professional projects.
