On May 2, Monika from European Dialogue in Slovakia led an engaging virtual classroom focused on using social media for project dissemination and visibility. The session opened with a warm welcome from Monika, who introduced the interactive nature of the workshop and encouraged participants to contribute freely without pressure. Katja provided technical support and informed attendees that the session would be recorded and screenshots might be used for dissemination.
The session began with participants introducing themselves and their diverse projects, including initiatives on career consultation for high school students, raising awareness about rural depopulation through documentary filmmaking, and a mental health academy for young people. A discussion followed on preferred social media platforms, with Instagram emerging as the most popular due to its visual nature and wide reach among younger audiences.
Monika highlighted the importance of showcasing project progress and outcomes through effective online communication. She introduced several tools for managing and promoting projects: Discord and Slack for structured communication; Google Drive for easy document sharing; and Trello for visual task management. Canva was recommended for designing engaging visuals, while Linktree was suggested for consolidating multiple project links into a single access point.
To help participants create compelling dissemination content, Monika introduced the 3W1H Canvas method, encouraging teams to clearly define What the project is, Why it matters, Who it’s for, and How it’s being implemented. This approach aims to make project messaging simple, targeted, and engaging for audiences.
Monika also walked through effective platform-specific strategies. She emphasized Instagram as ideal for aesthetically pleasing content, behind-the-scenes updates, and building community engagement. She showed the European Dialogue Instagram account as an example of maintaining a consistent brand identity through color schemes, fonts, and alternating posts between graphics and photos.
The presentation also touched on the unique strengths of other platforms: TikTok for creative and trend-based content, Facebook for events and group interactions, and LinkedIn for professional outreach. Monika introduced Meta Business Suite as a valuable tool for scheduling posts and tracking engagement. She stressed the importance of adapting content to each platform and using analytics to understand real impact beyond visible likes and comments.
To wrap up, Monika discussed Mailchimp as a useful tool for email campaigns and newsletters, providing tips on how to engage audiences through well-crafted emails. The session concluded with positive feedback from participants, who shared their appreciation using emojis in the chat, reflecting the dynamic and supportive atmosphere of the session.
