3rd VIRTUAL CLASSROOM – Using tools in YI: Canva

The third virtual classroom took place on the 14th of April and was implemented by our Slovenian partner, Celjski mladinski center. In this one hour long session 8 participant attneded the session. Below you can find a short recap of the virtual classroom implemented by Hana.

In the meeting, Hana introduced Canva, a free online graphic design tool, and discussed its benefits for users. She explained that Canva is easy to use, requires no design skills, and offers access to thousands of templates and free elements. Hana also highlighted that Canva is cloud-based, allowing users to work on multiple devices and collaborate on designs simultaneously. She mentioned that Canva offers a free plan and a pro plan, with the pro plan offering additional templates and a background remover feature. Hana encouraged users to explore Canva and practice using it to improve their design skills.
Hana discussed the use of Canva for creating event materials such as Facebook event covers, Instagram posts, and Instagram stories. She highlighted a limitation of Canva, which is the inability to create custom sizes beyond a certain point, requiring the use of a graphic designer for larger projects. Hana also demonstrated how to adjust the size of a design in Canva, noting that this feature is only available in the Pro version.

Hana also highlights Canva’s learning resources and emphasizes its user-friendliness for non-designers. The session concludes with an offer for additional support and a reminder about upcoming events.
